Background
Raising Young Farmers CIC is a newly formed Community Interest Company that has been trading as Tablehurst Young Farmers for the last 5 years. We run educational groups for children aged 0-16 that centre on fun and collaborative activities to support Tablehurst Farm. There are around 100 children attending our sessions each week and we also run Holiday Clubs. We have written a curriculum which gives a topic of focus each week to support children in their learning.
Our mission is to connect children with regenerative farming practices to ensure that future generations are able to sustain themselves and heal our planet. We are not-for-profit. Our Values are Curiosity, Vitality, Respect, Leave things better and In it together.
We're looking to expand our self-employed team and would like to receive expressions of interest no later than 30th September 2021.
Hours of work vary, but would typically be around 2 sessions per week Monday - Saturday. We operate for 47 weeks of the year and as a self employed individual, it will be up to you to say when you can work.
Session rate: This varies depending on your experience, for a full day the starting rate is £80 per day.
The Role
Working as part of a team, you'll be delivering high quality educational activities for children based on seasonal farm tasks and the Raising Young Farmers curriculum. Specifically:

Contributing ideas and skills to the activities taking place in the sessions

Confidently leading a group of children in a task, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children

Health and Safety and on-site risk assessment of activities

Engaging and enthusing children about farming practice and tasks, taking a child-led approach and communicating effectively with them as individuals

Completion of incident reporting forms

Reporting any issues/concerns/incidents to lead facilitator

Representing Raising Young Farmers CIC values and mission
Skills Needed
-
Experience of working with children of varied ages and and understanding of, or willingness to learn, different educational approaches

Basic understanding of regenerative farming and a willingness to learn more

Used to identifying risks when leading activities with children

Basic understanding of Safeguarding and willing to undertake Safeguarding training

Paediatric First Aid trained or willing to do so if successful

Charged mobile phone
If successful you will need an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding training and a paediatric first aid certificate. We'll also ask for 2 references.
