Raising Young Farmers

Hands-on education on a biodynamic farm for children aged 0–16 at Tablehurst Farm, Forest Row

Welcome to the Farm

Raising Young Farmers is a community interest company based at Tablehurst Farm, a biodynamic community farm in Forest Row, East Sussex. We provide farm-based educational programmes and outdoor learning experiences for children and young people aged 0 to 16. The majority of our families are home educators, and our sessions have become a cornerstone of the home education community across the area.

Every week, children roll up their sleeves and get stuck into real farm work: caring for animals, growing and harvesting food, cooking over the fire, building and crafting, and exploring the woods. Our sessions are designed to build independence, confidence, and a deep connection to the natural world.

Families travel from across East Sussex and beyond to join us, including from Forest Row, East Grinstead, Crowborough, Uckfield, and Tunbridge Wells.

What Families Say

Hear from some of the families who are part of our community.

“My daughter has completely come out of her shell since starting Farm Kids. She went from being nervous around animals to confidently leading the morning feed. The change in her confidence has been incredible.”
— Sarah, parent of Farm Kids member (age 7)
“As a home educating family, this has been the missing piece for us. The children get practical, hands-on experience that we just cannot replicate at home. They come back buzzing every single week.”
— James, parent of two Farm Kids members
“Seedlings has been such a special time for me and my little one. It is gentle, unhurried, and the facilitators really understand how to engage very young children with nature. We both look forward to it all week.”
— Emma, Seedlings parent
“My son started in Farm Kids and has now moved up to Let’s Grow. The sense of responsibility he has developed is remarkable. He talks about the farm constantly and genuinely cares about the animals and the land.”
— Rachel, parent of Let’s Grow member (age 13)
