Our Programmes
We run four programmes at Tablehurst Farm, each designed for a different age group.
Our programmes run throughout the year at Tablehurst biodynamic farm in Forest Row, East Sussex. The majority of our families are home educators, and our sessions are designed to complement a wide range of home education approaches. Whether your child is five or fifteen, there is a programme to suit them.
Seedlings Ages 0–6
A gentle, nurturing introduction to farm life for little ones
Seedlings is our programme for the youngest children and their parents or carers. Together, you and your little one will explore the farm at a gentle pace, meeting the animals, discovering seasonal changes, and enjoying sensory play in the fresh air. It is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the natural world while spending quality time together outdoors.
Parents and carers attend alongside their child throughout the session.
What we do
- Gentle, child-led exploration of the farm
- Meeting and caring for farm animals
- Seasonal nature activities and sensory play
- Songs, stories, and outdoor crafts
- A warm, supportive community of families

Farm Kids Ages 5–11
Hands-on farm sessions building independence and confidence
Farm Kids is our flagship programme for primary-age children. Each week, children roll up their sleeves and get stuck into real farm work: caring for animals, growing and harvesting food, cooking over the fire, building and crafting, and exploring the woods. It is a place where children develop independence, confidence, and a deep connection to the land. Many of our families are home educators, and our sessions complement a wide range of learning approaches.
Farm Kids is a drop-off session. Parents are welcome to stay briefly at the start to help their child settle.
What we do
- Hands-on animal care and husbandry
- Growing, harvesting, and cooking food from the farm
- Woodland play, den building, and nature exploration
- Outdoor crafts, tool use, and creative projects
- Building independence, teamwork, and resilience
